Audiovisual communications is that branch of educationaltheoryand practice concerned with the design and use ofmessageswhich control the learning process. Itundertakes: (a) the study ofthe unique and relativestrengths and weaknesses of both pictorialand nonrepresentational messages which may beemployed in thelearning process for any reason;and ( b ) the structuring andsystematizing ofmessages by men and instruments in aneducationalenvironment. These undertaking include planning,production, selection, management, and utilization of bothcomponents and entire instructional systems.
